HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2019-236RESOLUTION NO. 2019-236 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENTS WITH NJ ASSOCIATES, INC., OF LODI, AND LDA PARTNERS, INC., OF STOCKTON, FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONCEPTUAL ARCHITECTURAL RENDERINGS OF KEY VACANT COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT SITES IN LODI FOR USE AS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TOOLS FOR THE PURPOSE OF BUSINESS ATTRACTION, EXPANSION, AND RETENTION WHEREAS, approximately 30 separate land parcels adjacent to State Route 99 are vacant and development -ready for new commercial or industrial development; and WHEREAS, groups of parcels are contiguous, have ideal visibility and access from State Route 99; and WHEREAS, staff performed a desk and windshield assessment of contiguous parcels and identified approximately ten sites large enough to accommodate development; and WHEREAS, these sites are ideal candidates for the development of conceptual architectural renderings depicting market potential for new commercial and industrial development in Lodi for the purpose of business attraction, expansion, and retention; and WHEREAS, these architectural renderings are anticipated to stimulate interest and enthusiasm in commercial site development in Lodi at a variety of venues directly related to economic development, including the City's website, Chamber of Commerce website, and to promote Lodi in Regions Rise Together, a state economic development initiative of regions throughout California; and WHEREAS, economic development staff is aware of the responsiveness of site selectors towards jurisdictions that invest in its economic development efforts for the purpose of attracting new capital investment; and WHEREAS, the most deliberate use of these architectural renderings will be to promote Lodi's commercial sites at site selection forums for purposes other than big box fulfillment centers where smaller scale development aimed at technology, advanced manufacturing, data centers, and motorist -centered retail are feasible; and WHEREAS, the conceptual development will emphasize energy-efficient technology, building materials, and building positioning to appeal to environmental and sustainable corporate interests. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute Professional Services Agreements with NJ Associates, Inc., of Lodi, California, and LDA Partners, Inc., of Stockton, California, for the development of conceptual architectural renderings of key vacant commercial and industrial development sites for use as economic development tools for the purpose of business attraction, expansion, and retention, in an amount not to exceed $17,500.
