BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Demolition of the existing structures on this future parking lot site has been substantially completed. We are cooperatively working with the owners of the adjacent Merlot building to resolve an issue with the structural connections between it and the two City buildings being demolished. This work should be completed well before the parking lot construction begins. This project consists of grading, compacting and paving a 20,000 -square -foot, 55 -parking -stall parking lot (see concept attached). Also included is the installation of concrete curbing, lighting, trees, irrigation system, water, sewer and electrical service, and other incidental and related work as shown on the plans and specifications for the project, on file in the Public Works Department. The parking stalls produced by this project will create new parking in the downtown area to partially offset loss of parking at the theater and Lodi Station Parking Structure project sites. We anticipate a mix of permit and 2 -hour parking. The long bidding time is required in order to allow the contractor enough time to fulfill the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) bidding requirements. FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from the Community Development Block Grant Fund. A request for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award. Project Estimate: $95,000 Budgeted: 1998/99 fiscal year Planned Bid Opening Date: October 4, 2000 Richar C. Prima, Jr. Public Works Director Prepared by Mark J.
