BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Facilities Division within Public Works is staffed with one full- time Facilities Supervisor, one full-time Facilities Maintenance Worker and one part{ime Facilities Maintenance Worker who manage all building maintenance for 22 City-owned facilities. With the increased homeless activity in and around City facilities, including the City Hall complex, the transit center, and the parking structure, facilities staff is spending an exorbitant amount of time addressing daily vandalism, trash removal, biological waste clean-up, and general maintenance of the Veteran's Plaza fountain. Due to the ever-increasing amount of time spent on the activities noted above, one fulltime Facilities Maintenance Worker is not adequate to keep up with the required maintenance of City facilities. Duties will include regular maintenance and homeless related cleaning of the finance building to assure the City's utility customers experience a clean and well-maintained area to conduct business. This new position will also allow the Transit Division to dedicate additional resources toward the maintenance and clean-up of the City's transit facilities including the downtown parking structure and transit depot. Public Works is requesting to add one fulltime Facilities Maintenance Worker to its budget and eliminate the part-time Facilities Maintenance Worker. The additional hours that will be available by the full{ime position will enable the facilities staff to provide a higher level of service and be more proactive on facilities requests. Staff recommends Council approve the addition of one full-time Facilities Maintenance Worker within Public Works. FISCAL IMPACT: The position would be funded by the General Fund ($4,450), Transit Division ($44,650), Water Fund ($13,400), Wastewater Fund ($13,400), and Electric Fund ($13,400). There is no additional fiscal impact in FY 2019120 to the General Fund. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Funding available through current FY 2019120 allocations. e Post, Human Resources Manager 0^"M-)6'* Andrew Keys, Ú'eputy City Manager/lnternal Services Director APPROVED , City Manager RESOLUTTON NO. 2019-185 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL ADDING ONE FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER POSITION WITHIN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the Facilities Division is comprised of one full-time Facilities Supervisor, one full{ime Facilities Maintenance Worker, and one part{ime Facilities Maintenance Worker; and WHEREAS, the City is experiencing an increased amount of homeless activity in and around City facilities, including the City Hall complex, the transit center, and the parking structure; and WHEREAS, one full-time Facilities Maintenance Worker is not adequate to keep up with the increased maintenance as a result of the homeless activities and the required maintenance of City facilities.
