RECOMMENDED ACTION Adopt resolution ratifying the U.S. Department of Justice 2019
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant application and
authorize the City Manager to execute funding agreement for the
purchase of safety equipment following award of grant.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
Program provides funding for states and local governments to
support a broad range of activities and equipment to prevent and
control crime and improve the criminaljustice system. JAG funds are allocated based on a community's
population and crime statistics, in combination with a minimum allocation to ensure that each state and
county receives an appropriate share.
This year, the department received an allocation of $24,618. The grant funds will go towards the cost to
procure five ballistic blankets. Once the funding agreement is executed the Department will follow
purchasing policy to expend funds.
FISCAL IMPAGT:$25,000 is included in the 2019120 Annual Budget
FUNDING AVAILABLE: Budget is available in account 21699000

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL RATIFYING THE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE2Ol9 EDWARD BYRNE
MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT APPLICATION;
AND FURTHER ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE FUNDING
AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT
FOLLOWING AWARD OF GRANT
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department submitted a proposal for the 2019 Edward
Byrne Memorial Assistance Grant through the Bureau of Justice Assistance on
August 20,2019; and
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department expects allocated funding from the Department
of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance in the amount of 924,618.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE lT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby ratify the
U.S. Department of Justice 2019 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant application
in the amount of $24,618 to procure five ballistic blankets; and
BE lT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby, following award of
the grant, accept the funds and authorize the City Manager to execute the funding ágreement
and any necessary forms with the Department of Justice for the acceptance of this grant.
