B. Topic(s) B-1 Presentation of New Gillig Trolley Bus (PW) Transportation Manager Georgia Lantsberger provided a presentation regarding the new Gillig trolley bus. Specific topics of discussion included replacement of the previous trolley under contract through Amador County; high-quality product through Gillig Manufacturing; delivery of bus in June 2019; every detail accounted for from color of trash can to placement of banners and motifs; purchased through Proposition 1B funds, which is specific for transit projects; use of the trolley as a more iconic tourism feature to draw attention to Lodi and encourage greater activity on the fixed-route transit system; proposed usage on a demonstration basis on each of the fixed routes; and in full service by mid-September. City Manager Schwabauer added this is a grant- funded bus and these dollars can only be used on transit; not to modernize a park, construct a homeless shelter, or for any other non-transportation project. Council Member Mounce shared that she received feedback from a handicapped citizen who suggested there ought to be a wood running board on the bus, similar to the previous trolley that had a running board with a rubber coating to prevent people from slipping. She requested staff follow-up on this suggestion. Ms. Lantsberger stated she would look into it and added that the trolley is equipped with a Q-Straint system for holding wheelchairs in place and the older trolley model did not have such a feature, and it was handled through an add-on feature. She assured Council that the trolley is very secure. C. Comments by Public on Non-Agenda Items None. D. Adjournment No action was taken by the City Council.
