HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 19, 2002COUNCIL COMMUNICATION /MI AGENDA TITLE: Adopt Resolution Awarding Contract for the White Slough Control Building Reroof, 12751 North Thornton Road, to Kodiak Roofing & Waterproofing Co., of Loomis, ($68,400); and Appropriate $75,000 for the Project MEETING DATE: June 19, 2002 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the contract for the above project to Kodiak Roofing & Waterproofing Co., of Loomis, in the amount of $68,400; and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The White Slough Control Building was constructed in 1967. The roof has had varying amounts of maintenance and repair work done since then, but has not been replaced. Several areas have undergone numerous repairs with mixed results. A roof survey performed in 1997 confirmed this roof has exceeded its useful life and is a candidate for priority replacement. Due to the increasing number of annual repairs and patches, it's apparent the entire roof is in immediate need of replacement. Approximately 9,600 square feet of roof need replacing. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on May 15, 2002. The City received the following two bids for this project: Bidder Location Bid Engineer's Estimate $ 67,000 Kodiak Roofing & Waterproofing Co. Dixon Flynn -- ' y Mana er CAWARDWSCONTROLBLDGREROOF 06/06/02 RESOLUTION NO. 2002-128 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE WHITE SLOUGH CONTROL BUILDING REROOF, 12751 NORTH THORNTON ROAD, AND FURTHER APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THIS PROJECT WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on June 5, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. for the White Slough Control Building Reroof, 12751 North Thornton Road, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on May 15, 2002; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as shown as follows: Bidder Location Bid Engineer's Estimate $ 67,000.00 Kodiak Roofing & Waterproofing Co. Loomis $ 68,400.00 TJ Roofing as Baker Roofing Stockton $108,050.00 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the contract for the White Slough Control Building Reroof, 12751 North Thornton Road, be made to the low bidder, Kodiak Roofing & Waterproofing Company, of Loomis, California. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the contract for the White Slough Control Building Reroof, 12751 North Thornton Road, be made to the low bidder, Kodiak Roofing & Waterproofing Company, of Loomis, California, in the amount of $68,400.00; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds in the amount of $75,000.00 be appropriated from the Wastewater Capital Fund for this project.
