HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - March 20, 2019 B-01TM CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA ITEM AGENDA TITLE: Arbor Day Proclamation MEETING DATE: March 20, 2019 PREPARED BY: Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director B -I RECOMMENDED ACTION: Mayor Chandler present a proclamation proclaiming Arbor Day in the City of Lodi. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services invites the Mayor, City Council, the City Manager and the Parks and Recreation Commission to this year's Arbor Day celebration, spearheaded by Tree Lodi. This year's event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Hale Park. The "Invest From the Ground Up" partnership and City organizations will be planting urban trees in the Heritage District of east Lodi. The event includes presentations, poster contest, tree planting demonstration and education, seedling giveaway and refreshments. Volunteers are asked to bring shovels, gloves, closed -toed shoes and water. The Invest From the Ground Up partnership includes the City of Lodi, Tree Lodi, West Coast Arborists, the Lodi Arts Foundation, Cal Fire, the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and California Urban Forests. The celebration of Arbor Day gives an opportunity to learn about trees and take positive action to make our city, schools and where we work a better place. FISCAL IMPACT: Not applicable.
