AGENDA TITLE: Plans and Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for Remodel to Accommodate
a Public Computer Lab at Lodi Library
MEETING DATE: July 19, 2000

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above
project and authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will remodel the Lodi Library to accommodate a
computer lab for the public. The lab will house six computers, a
CD-ROM tower of informational software and tutorials, and provide
for classroom instruction in computer and software usage. The
plans and specifications to modify the existing facility to accommodate the public computer lab call for
multi -colored carpet; dropped, tiled ceiling with glare -reducing lighting fixtures; removal of shelving, sink
and the counter; repair and painting of the walls and door jams; and wire molding and baseboards to
accommodate data cabling. A new entrance door with a frosted glass panel and upgrades to the area's
electrical circuits to accommodate the electronic equipment are also included.
The Library Board of Trustees approved the project plans and specifications at their June 19, 2000
meeting. The plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works Department.
FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from the Lodi Public Library Foundation. A
request for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award.
Project Estimate: $15,000
Budgeted: 2000/01 fiscal year
