AGENDA TITLE: Purchase Four Additional Portable Lifts for the Equipment Maintenance Division
($32,250)
MEETING DATE: August 2, 2000
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the
purchase of four additional portable lifts from Municipal Maintenance
Equipment, Inc., of Sacramento, in the amount of $32,253.75; and
appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Equipment Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining
and repairing almost all of the City's vehicles and equipment,
including the Transit fleet. The Equipment Maintenance Shop
currently has four Stertil-KONI lifts that were purchased from
Municipal Maintenance Equipment, Inc. The City Council originally approved the plans and
specifications on March 19, 1997, and the purchase on May 7, 1997.
With the addition of six new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses for the Transit fleet, it is imperative
that four more Stertil-KONI lifts be purchased to handle these heavy-duty buses. This request is to add
four Stertil-KONI's to the original contract amount. The price is the same as before. These four lifts will
be linked to the original ones and can be used in pairs or all together.
FUNDING: The money for this purchase will come from Federal Transit Administration (FTA)
Section 5307 funds and Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds, per the 1997/98
FTA Program of Projects approved by the FTA on January 18, 1998.
