HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - August 2, 2000 E-08CITY OFLODI COUNCIL• • AGENDA TITLE: Purchase Four Additional Portable Lifts for the Equipment Maintenance Division ($32,250) MEETING DATE: August 2, 2000 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the purchase of four additional portable lifts from Municipal Maintenance Equipment, Inc., of Sacramento, in the amount of $32,253.75; and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Equipment Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining and repairing almost all of the City's vehicles and equipment, including the Transit fleet. The Equipment Maintenance Shop currently has four Stertil-KONI lifts that were purchased from Municipal Maintenance Equipment, Inc. The City Council originally approved the plans and specifications on March 19, 1997, and the purchase on May 7, 1997. With the addition of six new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses for the Transit fleet, it is imperative that four more Stertil-KONI lifts be purchased to handle these heavy-duty buses. This request is to add four Stertil-KONI's to the original contract amount. The price is the same as before. These four lifts will be linked to the original ones and can be used in pairs or all together. FUNDING: The money for this purchase will come from Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 funds and Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds, per the 1997/98 FTA Program of Projects approved by the FTA on January 18, 1998. Dixon Flynn -- ity Manager CPRCH4PORTLIFTS 07/24/00 RESOLUTION NO. 2000-132 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF FOUR (4) STERTIL-KONI PORTABLE LIFTS FOR THE EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE DIVISION WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code Section 3.20.070, authorizes dispensing with bids for purchases of supplies, services or equipment when it is in the best interest of the City to do so; and WHEREAS, in 1997 the City Council awarded the bid for four Stertil-KONI Portable Lift Systems for the Equipment Maintenance Division; and WHEREAS, with the addition of six new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses for the transit fleet, it is necessary to purchase four more Portable Lift Systems to handle these heavy-duty buses; and WHEREAS, this purchase will be added to the original contract, using the same price on the previously purchased lift systems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby approves the purchase of four Stertil-KONI Portable Lift Systems from Municipal Maintenance Equipment, Inc., of Sacramento, CA, in the amount of $32,253.75; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds be appropriated as follows: FTA Section 5307 $25,800 Transportation Development Act Funds (TDA) $ 6,450 Dated: August 2, 2000 -------------------------------------------------------------------- hereby certify that Resolution No. 2000-132 was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting held August 2, 2000, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS — Hitchcock, Land, Nakanishi, Pennino and Mann (Mayor) NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS — None ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS — None ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS — None SUSAN J.
