HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - August 2, 2000 E-05AGENDA TITLE: Plans, Specifications and Advertisement of Bids for Electrical Improvements to the Softball
Complex and Armory Park.
MEETING DATE: August 2, 2000
PREPARED BY: Parks and Recreation Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above project and
authorize advertising of bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In March of this year, the City Council approved a Public Benefits
Program grant to fund a portion of the City of Lodi Phase I Energy Efficiency
Improvement Project. This Phase I effort consisted of lighting improvements
at various parks and athletic fields.
The project noted above is an effort to further reduce energy, operations, and maintenance costs. The project scope
will include the installation of new electrical panel boxes, new underground conduit and conductor, trenching, backfill
and compaction, trench paving, and other work as outlined in the plans and specifications.
Once completed, the improvements will allow staff ease of lighting operation for these fields while actually reducing
the costs associated with energy and maintenance. In addition, this project has afforded the City of Lodi Electric
Utility Department an opportune time to replace aging transformers, conduit, and other related materials at these
sites.
NOTE: The existing underground direct burial conductors at these fields are not properly sized for the new sports
lighting that was recently installed through Phase I of the Energy Efficiency Improvement Project. There are also a
number of "hot leg conductors" that are burned out. These burned out legs have jumper connections for current use.
Plans and specifications are available for review in the Electric Utility Engineering Department.
