BACKGROUND INFORMATION: It is important for sworn officers to be physically fit for their health and safety. Police work is tough, stressful, and dangerous. Many times officers respond to calls that require extreme physical exertion which is why it is important for officers to stay in physical shape. In order to promote physical fitness for officers and staff, the Lodi Police Department has a gym in it's facility for all staff to use. After years of use, much of the exercise equipment housed in the Police Department gym is either broken or malfunctioning. The current equipment was acquired used and is now at the end of life. For example, the current treadmill slips and is a safety hazard. Staff is requesting the acquisition of new gym equipment due to the deterioration of current equipment. Some of the equipment can be traded in and is reflected on the quote. The department requests to purchase a new treadmill, arm curl bench, a leg extension and leg curl apparatuses along with other small exercise equipment. The department will use asset seizure funds to Purchase the equipment so there will be no impact the department's general fund. With the trade-in value the total cost to the City will be $8,546.76. FISCAL IMPACT: Appropriate funds from the Asset Seizure Fund. There is no impact to the General Fund from this item.
