Adopt Resolution Authorizing City Manager to Execute Claim for Citywide Bike
Path and Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project Funded by Measure K Bicycle,
Pedestrian, and Safe Route to School Non -Competitive Program
October 17, 2018
Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt resolution authorizing City Manager to execute claim for
Citywide Bike Path and Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project
funded by Measure K Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Safe Route to School
Non -Competitive Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) administers the
Measure K regional sales tax program. Measure K provides funding
for a variety of road improvement projects, including the Bicycle,
Pedestrian and Safe Routes to School Non -Competitive Program. These non-competitive Measure K
funds are apportioned to each jurisdiction every two years and the apportioned amount must be claimed
within three years. Cycle one (2017-2021) for Lodi is determined to be $232,720.
The City is planning to use the non-competitive Measure K funds for a Citywide Bike Path and Pedestrian
Safety Improvement Project. SJCOG requires that a claim form to be signed and submitted by the City
prior to receiving the funds.
Staff recommends authorizing City Manager to execute claim for Citywide Bike Path and Pedestrian
Safety Improvement Project funded by Measure K Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Safe Route to School Non -
Competitive Program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Without Measure K funding, other street funds will need to be used to
complete these projects, thereby reducing funds available for other
projects.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable.
