Lockeford Street Improvement Project Utility Relocations

RECOMMENDED ACTION Adopt resolution authorizing City Manager to execute all documents
related to Lockeford Street Improvement Project utility relocations.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Over the past year, Public Works has been working on the design and
environmental documents for the Lockeford Street Improvement
Project. Since this project is receiving Federal funding, California
Department of Transportation (CalTrans) is responsible for the approval of the environmental and
preliminary and design documents, which includes utility relocation agreements.
As part of the CalTrans approval process, there are a variety of forms and agreements that must be
executed related to utility relocations. In order to meet the current project schedule, Staff is now requesting
Council authorize the City Manager to execute all documents related to the Lockeford Street Improvement
Project utility relocations. The relocations generally include utility poles. While these pole relocations are
done at no cost to the project, CalTrans still requires that certain forms and agreements be executed.
The CalTrans approval process has taken much longer than anticipated; however, the project remains on
schedule to begin construction in the spring of 2019.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact related to this action.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable.

RESOLUTION NO. 2018-172
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS
RELATED TO LOCKEFORD STREET IMPROVEMENT
PROJECT UTILITY RELOCATIONS
WHEREAS, over the past year, Public Works has been working on the design and
environmental documents for the Lockeford Street Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, since this project is receiving Federal funding, California Department of
Transportation (CalTrans) is responsible for the approval of the environmental, preliminary, and
design documents, including utility relocation agreements; and
WHEREAS, as part of the CalTrans approval process, there are a variety of forms and
agreements that must be executed related to utility relocations; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to
execute all documents related to Lockeford Street Improvement Project utility relocations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby
authorize the City Manager to execute all documents related to Lockeford Street Improvement
Project utility relocations.
