AGENDA TITLE: Declaration of Surplus Property Located at 600 S. Guild Avenue
MEETING DATE: May 3, 2000
PREPARED BY: Community Development Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution declaring City -owned
property at 600 South Guild as surplus property.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City of Lodi purchased three properties containing
approximately 21 acres in the spring of 1998. The intent of the
City acquisition was to extend Guild Avenue from Lodi Avenue
to Industrial Way as well as Thurman Street to the newly aligned
Guild Avenue. In addition, the City felt that as an economic development opportunity, the purchase of
these three irregular properties would be beneficial to own once the street was completed. The street is
now finished and the City has 17.85 acres available.
As mentioned, the property is 17.85 acres with full street improvements along the Guild Avenue frontage.
An appraisal was prepared in March to determine a fair market value. As a result of the report and the
completion of adjacent work, we are now recommending that the Council declare the property as surplus
so it can be marketed for sale to an appropriate industrial user, preferably with a high electrical power
need.
FUNDING: The acquisition of the property was funded using Electric Utility Reserves. Proceeds from
the sale would be refunded back to a ccount.
