HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - April 19, 2000 E-15CITY OF LORI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Request for Proposal for Pay Telephone Services MEETING DATE: April 19th, 2000 SUBMITTED BY: Information Systems Manager RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council allow staff to request proposals for pay telephone services. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City of Lodi desires to ensure that highly reliable, extensively available public pay telephone service is provided to its citizens, visitors and others who wish to place calls from a City owned or leased property. The purpose of the Request for Proposal (RFP) is to secure these types of services and associated maintenance for all pay telephones located on City of Lodi property. The pay telephone services will include and shall be synonymous with public telephones, pay telephones, payphones, and public access telecommunication devices for the deaf (TDD). Currently the City of Lodi has an immediate need for 3 payphones at the Transit Station located 24 South Sacramento Street. The City also has existing contracted payphones located at various public and semi- public sites within the City limits. It is the wish of the City of Lodi to maximize revenue generated from these sites as well as provide vendors a chance to competitively bid on providing payphone services. The City of Lodi also wishes to provide "enhanced" access for the hearing impaired citizens of our community by installing TDD equipped payphones at the Police/Court lobby locations and the Transit Station. Various payphones at City locations either generate minimal revenues or cost the City money. It is the goal of the RFP process to solicit revenue generating pay telephones and service.
