RECOMMENDED ACTION: Appoint Jill Hernandez and Patricia Hill to the Lodi Senior Citizens
Commission, Elizabeth Mazzeo and Jean Powell to the Greater Lodi
Area Youth Commission (Adult Advisors), and Walter Scheffer to
the Personnel Board of Review; post for vacancy on the Recreation Commission; and re -post for
vacancies on the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission and for ex -officio member of the Lodi Arts
Commission.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On December 6, 2017, and February 21, 2018, City Council directed
the City Clerk to post for vacancies on the Lodi Senior Citizens
Commission and the Personnel Board of Review. On
September 21, 2016, December 7, 2016, April 5, 2017, July 19, 2017, September 6, 2017, December 6,
2017, February 21, 2018, and March 21, 2018, City Council directed the City Clerk to post for vacancies
for adult advisors on the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission. The Mayor reviewed the applications,
conducted interviews, and recommends that the City Council concur with the appointments as detailed
below.
Due to a recent resignation, staff recommends posting for one vacancy on the Recreation Commission
as detailed below, for a period of 30 days.
On March 21, 2018, City Council directed the City Clerk to post for seven expiring terms and vacancies
for student members on the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission. Following the 30 -day posting period,
two new applications were received, along with six applications which have been on file for less than one
year. Staff recommends re -posting the vacancies for a period of 15 days to obtain a larger applicant
pool.
On March 21, 2018, City Council directed the City Clerk to post for one vacancy for an ex -officio member
of the Lodi Arts Commission. Resolution No. 2017-208 provides for the appointment of ex -officio
members of the Lodi Arts Commission selected from current members of the Planning Commission,
Parks and Recreation Commission, and/or Site Plan and Architectural Review Committee. No
applications were received during the 30 -day posting period. Staff recommends re -posting the vacancy
until filled.
