HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2018-108RESOLUTION NO. 2018-108 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF A NEW BOMB SQUAD VEHICLE AND FURTHER APPROPRIATING FUNDS WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is an FBI -certified, stand-alone bomb squad and is in partnership with a regional bomb squad; and WHEREAS, after the donation of the multi-purpose robot was received, it was discovered that the robot cannot be positioned securely in the bed of the current bomb squad vehicle; and WHEREAS, the current vehicle is a 1994 Ford Econoline E350 (05-OD52) one -ton truck outfitted with bomb squad framework, with more than 187,000 miles and $6,907.64 worth of maintenance since December 2013; and WHEREAS, at the July 11, 2017, Shirtsleeve Session, the Police Department presented a proposal for an EOD vehicle manufactured by Emergency Vehicles, Inc., for the quoted cost of $210,000; Council advised the Police Department to seek a lower-cost option; and WHEREAS, the Police Department recommends the purchase of a 2019 Ford F550 truck from Downtown Ford, a State of California contract dealer for government vehicles, for $42,566.38; bomb squad framework manufactured by California Truck Equipment Company for $66,325.61; and the emergency equipment installation by Lehr for $3,587.38. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the replacement of the 1994 Ford Econoline E350 (05-OD52) bomb squad vehicle, with a 2019 Ford F550 truck from Downtown Ford, of Sacramento, California, a State of California contract dealer for government vehicles, in the amount of $42,566.38; bomb squad framework manufactured by California Truck Equipment Company, of Downey, California, in the amount of $66,325.61; and emergency equipment installation by Lehr, of Sacramento, California, in the amount of $3,587.38; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds in the amount of $112,480 be appropriated for the vehicle purchase as shown as follows: Vehicle Replacement Fund $112,480 (40399100.77040 - Expense) Date: June 6, 2018 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I hereby certify that Resolution No. 2018-108 was passed and adopted by the Lodi City Council in a regular meeting held June 6, 2018, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS — Chandler, Johnson, Kuehne, and Mounce NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS — None ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS — Mayor Nakanishi ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS — None NIFER FERRAIOLO ity Clerk 2018-108
