AGENDA TITLE: Request for Proposals and Advertisement for Security Services at Lodi Station

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize advertising for proposals for security
services for the Lodi Station and parking structure.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Security at Lodi Station and the parking structure (currently in the
design phase) is required to maintain the safety of facilities, buses,
contract employees and patrons. Security would be provided from
7 p.m. to 5 a.m., seven days per week, with a guard performing
security sweeps on an hourly basis by punching a portable clock at different locations.
The deadline for submitting proposals to the Transportation Manager would be April 28, 2000. The
contract, for fiscal year 2000/01, would begin June 1, 2000, and run for 3 years. The estimated cost is
$54,000 per year.
FUNDING: The additional operating costs for Lodi Station are reflected in the 1999/00 and 2000/01
budgets.
