HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - April 5, 2000 E-08` CITY OF I,ODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Request for Proposals for Washbay Equipment System MEETING DATE: April 5, 2000 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve issuing a request for proposals (RFP) for a washbay equipment system. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Public Works Department needs to purchase and install a washbay equipment system, primarily for the bus fleet. The washbay will reduce labor time for the entire Department and ensure a clean fleet of vehicles and equipment. The washbay will be a gantry -type system. Drivers will park their vehicles and the system will move. The Lodi Unified School District (LUSD) has expressed an interest in utilizing the washbay as well. Currently, their drivers are paid overtime to wash their buses. Using this washbay will reduce their labor costs. LUSD transportation staff concur with the recommended equipment selection. The estimated cost for the washbay system, including recycling system, design, construction and site work, is $250,000. Site locations, including one at 820 South Cluff Avenue, the LUSD transportation yard, as well as cost sharing, are being evaluated. However, due to the lead time for the equipment and Federal funding deadlines, we wish to pursue the equipment contract.
