RECOMMENDED ACTION:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Approve specifications and authorize advertisement for bids to
maintain Electric Utility inventory levels through Fiscal Year
2018/19.
On April 6, 2016 the City Council approved specifications for
distribution transformers and conductors and authorized staff to
advertise for and receive bids as needed through Fiscal Year
2016/17.
This action allowed staff to advertise, receive, and evaluate bids without having to seek Council approval
for the specifications during this time period. Staff then provided the Council with the bid results and a
recommendation to award each bid in accordance with the City's purchasing policy.
Staff is recommending continuing the practice of gaining City Council approval of the specifications and
authorization to advertise for bids to maintain all EU inventory levels through Fiscal Year 2018/19. The
Council approval to award bids compliant with the specifications and the City's purchasing policy will
continue to occur. This will effectively reduce the overall lead time to procure EU inventory items by
several weeks.
The specifications for EU inventory items are on file at the Electric Utility, 1331 South Ham Lane.
FISCAL IMPACT: None at this time.
