BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At the City Council meeting of November 1, 2017, the City Council adopted a resolution abolishing the Art Advisory Board and amending the Arts Commission bylaws to change the membership from nine at -large members to seven at -large members appointed by the City Council who are registered voters within the City. In addition, two ex -officio members were added to the Arts Commission that would serve from the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, or Site Plan and Architectural Review Committee (SPARC). The two ex -officio members would have voting rights to select public art projects funded by development impact fees; however, they would not count for quorum purposes on the Arts Commission. The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Director polled the Art Advisory Board members who were not members of the Arts Commission — Dave Kirsten (Planning Commission), Roger Stafford (SPARC), and Larry Long (Parks and Recreation Commission). Mr. Kirsten and Mr. Stafford indicated interest in continuing with the Lodi Arts Commission as the two ex -officio members. Mr. Long, however, has a conflict and is unable to participate. Therefore, it is recommended that Council appoint Dave Kirsten and Roger Stafford to the Arts Commission as the ex -officio members. FISCAL IMPACT: Not applicable. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable.
