MEETING DATE: March 1, 2000 PREPARED BY: Community Center Coordinator RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, in conjunction with the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club, Linnco Services and Central Valley Waste Services is sponsoring a program entitled Honoring Teens. The Lodi Youth Commission Leadership Committee'selects one teen to be awarded Teen of the Month from the applications submitted to the commission from the general public, various schools, and church groups. This month's Teen of the Month is Katy Wicks from Lodi High School and the Honorary Teen of the Month is Angela Manassero from St. Mary's High School. FUNDING: None Required. APPROVED: vette Maragliano Community Center Coordinator H. Dixon Flynn -- City tanager Bio for City Council March Teen of the Month Katy Wicks is a student at Lodi High School. Katy's senior project is to prepare and serve meals at the Archway Shelter. Katy does everything from planning meals to purchasing the ingredients to organizing volunteer help to personally serving each person desiring a hot meal. Although Katy has fulfilled her senior project requirement after two meals, she has committed herself to continue serving once a month for a year. March Honorary Teen of the Month Angela Manassero is a resident of Lodi and attends St. Mary's High School. She has a GPA of 3.4 and a 1010 on her SAT's. Angela shows qualities of a top student. In Angel's spare time she is a volunteer at the Animal Shelter, working to find homes for homeless animals.
