HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - February 16, 2000 E-14AGENDA TITLE: Adoption of resolution setting the filing fee for Live Entertainment Permits.
MEETING DATE: February 16, 2000
PREPARED BY: Community Development Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the draft resolution approving the
filing fee for Live Entertainment Permits.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On December 15, 1999 the City Council adopted Ordinance
1686 which approved a new process for Live Entertainment
Permits. The main procedural difference between the new
permit and the Use Permit process is the amount and type of
City review that occurs. With the Use Permit process, the activity
must go through the Planning Commission for review and
approval. That is required to be a noticed public hearing. The
new process is done through staff and therefore the City does
not incur as much time in the review so the cost to process
should be less.
In looking at the amount of time we believe would be necessary to review these types of requests, staff
has looked at similar actions that we undertake. The best comparison can be made to the Administrative
Deviation process. This application essentially takes the variance process and simplifies it to a staff
review and action. The fee for an Administrative Deviation is $200.00.
For comparison purposes, it should be noted for the Council that the Use Permit filing fee is $1,000.00.
So, as a recommendation, the $200.00 fee proposed represents an 80% reduction in cost for the
applicant.
Staff recommends that the Council set the filing fee for Live Entertainment Permits at $200.00.
