RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for
rental and cleaning of Safety Clothing to the low bidder AmeriPride Uniform
Services, 7620 Wilbur Way, Sacramento, CA, in the approximate amount of
$8,556.00 annually.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On January 19, 2000, the City Council approved the specifications and
authorized advertisement for bids on the rental and cleaning of safety
clothing. Bid forms were sent to seven suppliers. Two bids were submitted
and opened on February 2, 2000.
1. AmeriPride Uniform Services, 7620 Wilbur Way, Sacramento, CA 95828
2. Unifirst Corporation, 125 E. Flora St., Stockton, CA 95202
Bid evaluations are based on 23 employees, weekly change and cleaning of six shirts and weekly cleaning of six
denim jean pants, for 50 weeks. Uniform service will not provide denim jean pants or clean jackets at this time.

The supplying of safety clothing will put the City of Lodi Electric Utility Department in compliance with Fed OSHA and
Cal OSHA regulations that require employees working on or near energized electric equipment to wear clothing that
will not ignite and continue to burn when exposed to an electric arc. The $8,556.00 annual amount has been
estimated. The exact amount will be determined by the number of safety clothing units rented and turned in each
week for cleaning.

RESOLUTION NO. 2000-18
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE
CONTRACT FOR RENTAL OF SAFETY CLOTHING FOR THE
ELECTRIC UTILITY DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the
order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on February 2,
2000 at 11:00 a.m. for rental of safety clothing for the Electric Utility Department,
described in the specifications, therefore approved by the City Council on January 19,
2000; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report
thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the contract for rental of
safety clothing for the Electric Utility Department to the low bidder, AmeriPride Uniform
Services of Sacramento, CA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of
the bid for rental of safety clothing for the Electric Utility Department, be and the same is
hereby awarded to the low bidder, AmeriPride Uniform Services, of Sacramento, CA, the
low bidder, in the amount of $8,556.00.
