BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City of lone contacted the City of Lodi recently to ask whether any surplus vehicles might be available (see attached letter). Several of their vehicles are in very bad shape mechanically, and break down frequently. They have no budgeted funds for replacements, and their Fire Department desperately needs a sedan to replace a van that is "on its last legs". The City of Lodi has several retired Ford Crown Victorias that will soon be scheduled to be sent to auction. The value of a retired Crown Victoria, based on moneys received for similar cars, is approximately $2,500. The request was discussed by the General Fleet Management Committee, who recommend that one surplus vehicle be donated. The Police Fleet Coordinator and the Fleet Manager have reviewed the surplus patrol cars and have selected the best one available, a 1995 unit with 92,082 miles and $11,785 in accumulated repair and maintenance costs. All emergency equipment and 2 -way radios have already been removed and reinstalled on the new patrol car that took this one's place. The City of lone will be responsible to equip and repaint the car. FUNDING: None required. S1A Richard C. Prima,,, Jr. Public Works Director Prepared by Dennis J. The City's budget is small and does not allow us to replace these vehicles at the present time. We would like to thank you in advance for any help or assistance that you and the City of Lodi may be able to provide to our City. Alan J. Bengyel City Administrator AJB/jmt #1 Main Street • P.O.
