BACKGROUND INFORMATION: One of the Police Department's 2015 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle (05-032) was involved in an on -duty vehicle collision which was determined to be the other party's fault. The Interceptor was considered a total loss. The City settled with the other party's insurance for the value of the vehicle, tax, as well as $4,088.30 for the transfer of emergency equipment. The insurance reimbursement totaled $28,024.31. Staff requests the authorization to replace the totaled 2015 Ford Interceptor with a 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle from Folsom Lake Ford, a State of California contract dealer for government vehicles, in the amount of $33,008.27, plus an additional $4,088.30 for transfer of emergency and electronic equipment through Lehr Auto, for a $37,096.57 total cost of the replacement vehicle. The $9,072.26 gap in insurance reimbursement and replacement cost will be paid from the vehicle replacement funds appropriated during the 2017/18 budgeting process. FISCAL IMPACT: FUNDING AVAILABLE: Appropriate funds from insurance reimbursement of $28,024.31. There is no impact to the General Fund from this vehicle purchase.
