BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of removing accessibility barriers near nine GrapeLine bus stops, installing 16 curb ramps, and associated Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) -compliant paths of travel to the bus stop locations that lack accessibility. The project will also be installing four advertisement compatible shelters and six standard shelters. Each new shelter will include lighting, a bench, and a trash can. The proposed locations of the improvements are shown on Exhibit A. These locations were selected based on bus stop boarding/alighting surveys and the Short Range Transit Plan recommendations accepted by Council in September 2013. The City's curb ramp database was used to select the appropriate accessibility improvements near the bus stops. The specifications are on file in the Public Works Department. The planned bid opening date is April 5, 2017. The project estimate is $460,000. FISCAL IMPACT: There will be a slight increase in the long-term maintenance costs associated with these improvements. The annual net revenue generated from the four advertisement shelters is estimated to be $7,500. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Funding will be identified at project award.
