AGENDA TITLE: Sale of Scrap Wire and Metal During 2000
MEETING DATE: January 5, 2000

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the sale of scrap wire and metal at
periodic intervals during the calendar year 2000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: During maintenance and installation operations the City utility
departments generate quantities of scrap wire and metal.
Periodically, the City will sell such quantities to scrap metal dealers
on a highest -bid basis.
It is projected that the City will hold sale bids for scrap metal at least four times during 2000, in
February, May, August, and November. Therefore, it is stafrs recommendation that the City Council
authorize the advertisement and sale of scrap wire and metal, in accordance with City Code, as is
necessary during 2000, and require report of all such sales within thirty days of their completion.

Prepared by Joel Harris, Purchasing Officer
None required. (Total revenue generated during 1999 from the
sale of scrap wire and metal was $9,056.04).
