BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Well 10C is located at 790 North Guild Avenue. Preliminary video inspection performed in 2013 indicated severe encrustation on the well casing and well screens. The video also revealed more than 40 feet of silty type material at the bottom of the well. This project consisted of performing video inspection of the water well, cleaning the well casing, inspecting and replacing the deep well turbine pump equipment, and other incidental and related work as shown on the plans and specifications for the project, as shown in Exhibit A. The water well is needed to supplement peak hour demand and fire flows in the industrial area east of Highway 99. The contract was awarded to Zim Industries, Inc., of Fresno, in the amount of $110,385, on December 16, 2015. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by City Council on August 19, 2015. The final contract price was $117,835.00. The difference between the contract amount and the final contract price is due to two change orders. Change Order No. 1 included well screen repair work which was revealed during the video inspection ($5,600.00). Change Order No. 2 included rebuilding the existing well motor bearings ($2,300.00). The contractor provided a two-year warranty bond for the pump equipment as specified for the project. Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineer will file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors that the project is complete and begins their 30 -day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute. FISCAL IMPACT: The project will decrease maintenance and operating costs of the water well due to new pumps and clean well screen. FUNDING AVAILABLE: This project was funded by Water Capital Fund Charis E.
