HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - October 19, 2016 C-04TM CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA ITEM C-4 AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for Alley Improvement Project — Phase 5 MEETING DATE: October 19, 2016 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept improvements under contract for Alley Improvement Project — Phase 5. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City has reconstructed various alleys over the past six years. Specific projects are selected based on pavement condition and drainage problems. The alley selected for this phase is located east of School Street, from De Force Avenue to Daisy Avenue. The project included approximately 13,000 square feet of pavement removal and replacement, 700 square feet of new alley approach concrete, 265 feet of storm drain extension, and other incidental and related work. The project was awarded to A. M. Stephens Construction Company, Inc., of Lodi, on June 1, 2016, in the amount of $129,787. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the specifications approved by City Council. The contract was completed within the original contract amount and schedule. Photos of completed work are shown in Exhibit A. Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineer will file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors that the project is complete and begins their 30 -day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute. FISCAL IMPACT: FUNDING AVAILABLE: The project will reduce maintenance costs in the reconstructed alleys. This project was funded by 2014 Community Development Block Grant funds made available through San Joaquin County (Project 14.11).
