AGENDA TITLE: Plans and Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for Electric Utility Substructures, Turner
Road/McLane Substation ($308,000)
MEETING DATE: January 19, 2000
PREPARED BY: Electric Utility Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above
project and authorize advertisement for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will install electric utility substructures (conduits and vaults) in
Turner Road from McLane substation easterly past Mills Avenue and
westerly to Lower Sacramento Road/Woodhaven Lane. The substructures
will allow the Department to install new high voltage cable systems for replacement of existing cable and conduit
systems originating at McLane substation.
The existing facilities, installed in the late 1960's, are deteriorated and are no longer considered reliable components
of the distribution system. The existing non PVC plastic conduit system cannot accommodate today's cables in
addition to having collapsed in several sections. This project will also provide necessary additional underground
supply lines (feeders) from the substation to the existing and developing areas on the west and north west side of the
city.
The estimated cost of the substructure installation is $308,000 with bid opening scheduled for Wednesday, February
9, 2000.
FUNDING: Included in the Department's 1999-2000 Financial Plan and Budget, Distribution System
Improvement (page E-26).
Funding Approval:
