HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - January 19, 2000 E-04CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Plans and Specifications and Advertisement.for Bids for East Lodi Avenue Parcel Site Clearing and Building Demolition MEETING DATE: January 19, 2000 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above project and authorize advertising for bids. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project involves the removal and disposal of all trash, rubble, debris, buildings, concrete slabs and foundations, designated trees and plants, stumps and roots from approximately 24 acres of City property in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of East Lodi Avenue. This is the property that was purchased east of the existing substation on East Lodi Avenue for the expansion of the Municipal Service Center Electric Utility facilities and also a part of the property purchased by the City along Guild Avenue for industrial development. The Guild Avenue extension has been completed and the architect is beginning the plans for the new facilities for the Electric Utility Department. The Fire Department burned the residential buildings on the property as part of training exercises after the removal of asbestos material. The water wells were abandoned under a contract that was just completed. Concrete foundations, slabs and basements will be removed as part of this contract. There are also a few scrub trees and an old, nonproducing vineyard that will be removed and ground up. The entire acreage will be disced after the rubble has been removed. The plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works Department. Attached is a copy of Drawing A that shows area and the demolition plan. FUNDING: The money for this project will becoming from the Electrical Utility Capital Outlay Fund. A request for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award.
