HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 1, 2016 C-09TM CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA ITEM C-9 AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for 2016 Pavement Crack Sealing MEETING DATE: June 1, 2016 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept improvements under contract for 2016 Pavement Crack Sealing. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The primary cause of asphalt failure is water infiltration into the street subgrade. Crack sealing is one of the most basic and important preventive street maintenance practices. This project consisted of crack sealing approximately 580,000 square feet of West Lodi Avenue, from Lower Sacramento Road to the Union Pacific Railroad. Th project was awarded to Telfer Pavement Technologies, LLC, of McClellan, on February 17, 2016, in the amount of $42,890. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the specifications approved by City Council. The contract was completed within the original schedule and amount specified in the contract. See attached Exhibit A for sample photos of the completed work. Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineer will file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors that the project is complete and begins their 30 -day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute. FISCAL IMPACT: By increasing the crack sealing effort, the useful life of the City streets will be extended.
