AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for 2016 Pavement Crack Sealing
MEETING DATE: June 1, 2016
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept improvements under contract for 2016 Pavement Crack
Sealing.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The primary cause of asphalt failure is water infiltration into the
street subgrade. Crack sealing is one of the most basic and
important preventive street maintenance practices. This project
consisted of crack sealing approximately 580,000 square feet of West Lodi Avenue, from Lower
Sacramento Road to the Union Pacific Railroad.
Th project was awarded to Telfer Pavement Technologies, LLC, of McClellan, on February 17, 2016, in
the amount of $42,890. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the
specifications approved by City Council.
The contract was completed within the original schedule and amount specified in the contract. See
attached Exhibit A for sample photos of the completed work.
Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineer will file a Notice of
Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors
that the project is complete and begins their 30 -day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to
withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute.
FISCAL IMPACT: By increasing the crack sealing effort, the useful life of the City streets will
be extended.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: This project is funded by Measure (30399000.77020)
