The Human Resources Department received a request to conduct a classification study for one Senior Administrative Clerk in the Library. As such, Human Resources conducted a classification study and recommends that the employee be reclassified to the position of Administrative Secretary. The incumbent requested the reclassification study because she believes she is performing work that is at the level of an Administrative Secretary, rather than a Senior Administrative Clerk. The reclassification study found that the incumbent is performing duties that are in the job description of Administrative Secretary, including providing support to a Department Head, serving as a Secretary to the Library Board and she is serving in the capacity of the office manager. Reclassification of the incumbent to Administrative Secretary is consistent with other departments across the City. The Administrative Secretary classification more accurately reflects the duties being performed. Staff recommends the reclassification of one Senior Administrative Clerk to Administrative Secretary, retro -active to July 20, 2015, which is the date of the request. The Administrative Secretary salary range is $43,044.39 - $52,320.77, which is approximately 20 percent above the current salary range for the Senior Administrative Clerk. Staff conferred with AFSCME - General Services Unit and they concur with the request to reclassify one Senior Administrative Clerk to Administrative Secretary. FISCAL IMPACT: The annual increase would be approximately $3,000, including benefits. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Funding available from the department's operating budget.
