A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL RATIFYING THE
C¡TY MANAGER'S EXECUTION OF THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF
JUSTICE COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES GRANT
APPLICATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
FUNDING AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF A VIRTRA 1OO
SIMULATOR TRAINING SYSTEM, UPON AWARD OF THE GRANT;

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services
(COPS) administered a Community Oriented Policing Development (CPD) program grant; and
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department staff applied for the grant with the intent to
purchase a Virtra 100 simulator training system; and
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department chose the Virtra 100 simulator training system
because of the extensive library of realistic training, capacity to use department-issued
equipment, affordable prlce, and easy mobility; and
WHEREAS, the COPS CPD grant was required to be executed by June 23, 2017, and
accordingly, the City Manager executed the grant application subject to the ratification by the
City Council; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council ratify the City Manager's execution
of the U. S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Grant application, and
upon award authorize the City Manager to execute the program funding agreement, and further
approve appropriation of funds in the amount of $76,944.46 for the 2017118 fiscal year budget
accounts 21600000.56401 (revenue), 21699000.77020 (expense), and Safety Equipment
( 1 0032000 .7 2306) remaining $1,944.46 (expense).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE lT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Councíl does hereby ratify the
City Manager's execution of the U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing
Services (COPS) grant for the purchase of a Virtra 100 simulator training system; and
BE lT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon award of the grant, the City Council does
hereby authorize the City Manager to accept funding allocation from the U.S. Department of
Justice Community Oriented Policing Services for Community Oriented Policing Development
Program Grant, and further authorizes the City Manager to execute the Program Funding
Agrèement, and hereby approves appropriating funds in the amount of $76,944.46 for the

and Safety Equipment (1003200072306) remaining ç1,944.46 (expense) for the purchase of a
Virtra 100 simulator training system.

I hereby certify that Resolution No. 2017-135 was passed and adopted by the Lodi City
Council in a regular meeting July 19,2017, by the following vote:
