A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI C¡TY COUNCIL
APPROVING THE CLASSIFICATION, JOB DESCRIPTION
AND SALARY RANGE FOR THE POSITION OF FLEET
SUPERINTENDENT AND THE RECLASSI FICATION
OF ONE FLEET SUPERVISOR
NOW, THEREFORE, BE lT RESOLVED that the Lodi city council does hereby
approve the classification and job description for the position of Fleet Superintendent
attached hereto as Exhibit A; and
BE lT FURTHER RESOLVED that the salary range for Fleet Superintendent is
hereby approved and shall be as follows:
BE tT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve
the reclassification of one Fleet Supervisor to Fleet Superintendent, retro-active to
August 29,2016.

FLEET SUPERINTENDENT
Job descriptions are intended to present a broad and general range of duties which
includes, purpose, responsibilities, and scope of work. Job descriptions are not intended
to reflect all duties performed within the job.
DEF ITION
Responsible for planning, developing and overseeing the work of fleet maintenance
crews and monitoring and assisting the preparation of the fleet services oPeratingtn

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Dtrties may include, but are not limited to the following:

plan, organize and directs the work of personnel engaged in the maintenance and

Division.
Develop and implement plans to meet environmental goals, including introduction and
evaluation of alternative fueled vehicles; ensure compliance with State and Federal
regulations.
prepares bidding documents for the purchase of City vehicles and equipment and other
fleei related prolects; makes recommendations on the purchase, sale and disposal of
new and used úehicies and equipment; approves requisitions; review and authorizes
payment on invoices, credit card charges and other purchasing documents.
provides training and development for division employees to develop and maintain a
high performancê, customer service-oriented work environment.
prepares or reviews reports or presentations for the Public Works Director, City
Manager, or City Council; presents reports and or findings to City Council on the

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledqe of:
p¡nctpËs and practices of management and supervision; basic municipal accounting

principles and practices of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair as related to
a large and varied fleet maintenance program.
Safety principles, practices, and procedures.
Report writing techniques.
Codes, ordinances and guidelines pertaining to the Fleet Division.
The uses and operation of heavy equipment and mechanical equipment; materials,
methods, tools, and equipment uðed in the maintenance of buildings and equipment;
building and equipment maintenance procedures.
Abilitv to:
Ã-*d interpret Federal and State regulations pertaining to the Fleet Division.
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed
actiohs and implement recommendations in support of goals.
Plan, organize, assign, and review the work of subordinate personnel
Organize and conduct division training programs.

Five years increasingly responsible work experience in the maintenance and repair of
fleet vehicles and ùãry equipment, two years of which were in a supervisory capacity.
LIGENSES AND CERTIFIGATES:. ^possession of a vãäffimerc¡ai class A Driver's License issued from the california
Department of Motor Vehicles with the appropriate e-ndorsements, as mandated by the
Státe of California CommercialVehicle Code, within 6 months of appointment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
wittingn"ts and ability to work scheduled and emergency overtime and be available on
call as required.
Mobility: frequent performance of heavy manual labor; frequent crawl, bend' stoop,
reach, and climb for long period of time.
Lifting: frequent lifting and maneuvering various tools, equipment and apparatus
weighing up to 75 Pounds.
Vision: essential duties require the mental and/or physical ability to read fine print on
labels, manuals, maps, and diagrams and with no color deficiencies to work with color-
coded wires.
Dexterity: frequent grasping, holding, and reaching'
Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking in person. May be required to wear ear
protection or hear in noisy conditions.
Emotional/ psychological: frequent coworker contact; occasional working alone'
