HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - November 17, 1999 E-07�OF� • •�COUNCIL COMMUNICATION Fo¢�'�� AGENDA TITLE: Award Contract for Lower Sacramento Road 1,000 Feet South of Lodi Avenue Culvert Extension ($242,800) MEETING DATE: November 17, 1999 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for the above project to Altman General Engineering Contractor, of Yuba City, in the amount of $242,791.00, and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of extending the existing double 6 -foot by 6 -foot concrete culvert crossing under Lower Sacramento Road at the Woodbridge Irrigation Canal, including removal of a portion of the existing walls, constructing the culvert extension, wingwalls, sidewalks, wrought iron fences and gates, pilasters, and barriers. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on October 6, 1999. Rancho Cordova $337,662.00 Diede Construction, Inc. Woodbridge $345,295.84 Construction for this project will begin in December 1999 and be completed by March 2000, when the canal is empty. This safety project will accommodate the overall Lower Sacramento Road widening project that is currently in design. A public meeting to discuss the overall widening project, from Turner Road to Kettleman Lane, was held on October 12, 1999. There were approximately 70 people in attendance. The engineering consultant, Mark Thomas & Company, Inc., and City staff discussed preliminary engineering plans, traffic studies, project design, schedule and financing of the project. Staff has also met with individual property owners to discuss various issues, and will be meeting with several individual property owners who will be most affected, to discuss right of way issues. Dixon FI n -- City Manager Caward 1'!/08/88 RESOLUTION NO. 99-183 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR LOWER SACRAMENTO ROAD 1,000 FEET SOUTH OF LODI AVENUE CULVERT EXTENSION WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on November 3, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. for Lower Sacramento Road 1,000 Feet South of Lodi Avenue Culvert Extension, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on October 6, 1999; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Bidder Bid Engineers Estimate $ 236,500.00 Altman General Engineering, Yuba City $ 242,791.00 Blaisdell Construction, Inc., Redding $ 246,255.50 H. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the contract for Lower Sacramento Road 1,000 Feet South of Lodi Avenue Culvert Extension, be and the same is hereby awarded to Altman General Engineering Contractor of Yuba City, California, the low bidder, in the amount of $ 242,791.00.
