On August 19, the City Council declared an emergency condition exists at the Grape Bowl so that staff could expedite repairs and prevent additional failures of the engineered foundation. Contracts with FieldTurf Tarkett and A.M. Stephens were finalized this month. Work commenced on September 15, with FieldTurf cutting and pulling back the playing surface and A.M. Stephens excavating the affected area this morning. A large hole was found within a T-shaped connector in a 2 -inch water pipe (picture attached). A.M. Stephens is expected to complete its repairs this week, with FieldTurf scheduled to return on Monday and complete work next Wednesday, September 23. This will allow season's remaining football games to be played as scheduled, and resumption of fall youth soccer at the Grape Bowl.
