AGENDA TITLE: Authorize Purchase of Miscellaneous Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Compressor
Parts for Transit Division ($21,530)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the
purchase of miscellaneous compressed natural gas (CNG) compressor
parts from Sulzer Compression, Inc., in the amount of $21,525.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At its January 20, 1999 meeting, the City Council authorized the
purchase of a used CNG compressor for the development of a CNG
fueling station at our Municipal Service Center (MSC) on Ham Lane.
This station will be used by the Transit Division for fueling its CNG
buses and by the Street and Water/Wastewater divisions, and the Electric Utility Department, as CNG
vehicles are acquired. The miscellaneous parts we are purchasing for the compressor will improve
safety, save energy, and reduce noise.

RESOLUTION NO. 99-191
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
THE PURCHASE OF MISCELLANOUS COMPRESSED NATURAL
GAS (CNG) COMPRESSOR PARTS FOR TRANSIT DIVISION
WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code, §3.20.070, authorizes dispensing with bids for
purchases of supplies, services or equipment when it is in the best interest of the City to do
so; and
WHEREAS, at its January 20, 1999 meeting, the City Council authorized the purchase
of a used CNG compressor for the development of a CNG fueling station at the Municipal
Service Center; and
WHEREAS, the station will be used by the Transit Division for fueling its CNG buses
and by the Street and Water/Wastewater divisions, and the Electric Utility Department, as
CNG vehicles are acquired; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends purchasing the miscellaneous parts for the compressor
from Sulzer Compression, Inc., to improve safety, save energy and reduce noise.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby approves
the purchase of miscellaneous parts for the compressor from Sulzer Compression, Inc. of in
the amount of $21,525.00.
