BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) department is host to multiple programs and events throughout the year at the Hutchins Street Square facility; including theater events, musicals, wedding receptions, business meetings and conferences, youth activities and senior care. The Hutchins Street Square facility is located on a 1O-acre parcel and consists of a 789-seat theater, numerous conference rooms and offices, two kitchens, senior center, adult day care center, child day care center and an indoor heated swimming pool. The Building Services Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance of the facility, ensuring that the conference rooms are set- up properly for events, directing the parttime staff on the coordination and configuration of the conference rooms, including the take-downs, ensuring adequate staffing for the events, and oversees the general maintenance and restoration of the facilities and surrounding grounds. The Building Services Coordinator also demonstrates a high level of customer service, using tact and diplomacy to resolve customer complaints. ln addition to the facility maintenance duties, the Building Services Coordinator directs, assigns, coordinates and reviews the work of subordinate staff, and is responsible for the selection, training and dismissal of part-time staff. There are currently seven part{ime employees that work at nights and on weekends during special events. The Building Services Coordinator also assists in the development and administration of the budget for Hutchins Street Square and manages multiple contracts with various vendors. The Building Services Coordinator works independently, exercises discretion over operations at Hutchins Street Square using judgment and decision making skills and reports directly to the PRCS Director. Upon request of the PRCS Director, Human Resources conducted a review and analysis of the Building Services Coordinator position in the PRCS department. This analysis included discussions with the incumbent and the PRCS Director, as well as a review of the current job description, job duties being performed, and salary information. Based on the review, it was determined that the incumbent is performing supervisorial duties (i.e., selecting, training, and reviewing the work of seven part{ime staff) and has a higher level of decision making that are not currently listed in the job description. The City wishes to retitle the position to Building Services Supervisor, revise the job description to accurately reflect the work being performed, and to increase the salary to provide compensation for the additional supervisorial duties and responsibilities. APPROVED: Manager After discussions with and concurrence from representativeS from American Federation of State. County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), staff requestg Council approve the revisions to the job description; retitle the Building'Sérvices Coordinator to Building Services Supervisor and salary range ($48,505.64 - $58,958:99) which is approximately 10 percent above the current salary. This job description will remain within the AFSCME Maintenance and Operations bargaining unit. FISCAL IMPACT: FUNDING AVAILABLE: A net increase of $6,900 annually will resuft from the reclassification. DEFINITION The Building Services Manager Supervisor works with clients and staff to insure that all of the physical aspects of events and room sets are completed in a timely and professional manner.
