RECOMMENDED AGTION: Accept improvements under contract for DeBenedetti Park Masonry
Wall Landscaping, 2160 West Century Boulevard.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The contract was awarded to Hemington Landscape Services, lnc., of
Cameron Park, in the amount of $50,531 , on November 6, 2013. The
contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the
plans and specifications approved by City Council.
The master plan for DeBenedetti Park includes a maintenance yard consisting of park maintenance
facilities, a storm drainage pump station, a municipalwell and a masonry wall surrounding the facilities at
the southwest corner of Century Boulevard and Heavenly Way. The pump station, well, and masonry
wall projects have been completed.
This project consisted of landscaping the street frontage adjacent to the newly-installed masonry wall.
The project included the installation of a new concrete mow strip, automatic irrigation system, soil
preparation, sod turf, native planting materials, and other incidental and related work, all as shown on the
plans and specifications for the project, The landscaping looks similar to the existing landscaping along
Heavenly Way and Century Boulevard.
The contract completion date was May 20,2014. The final contract price was $50,531 which is equal to
the original contract price.
Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineer will file a Notice of
Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors
that the project is complete and begins their 30-day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to
withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute.
FISCAL IMPAGT: Not applicable.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: This project was funded by Storm lmpact Mitigation Fees (175043),
Water Capital (181043), and Parks lmpact Mitigation Fees (1217043).
