HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - December 15, 1999 D-03bCITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Presentation of Wal-Mart Economic Development Grant to City of Lodi Economic Development Department MEETING DATE: December 15, 1999 SUBMITTED BY: Economic Development Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That City of Lodi Economic Development Coordinator, Tony Goehring, accept the Wal-Mart Economic Development Grant in the amount of $4,000 as presented by Nancy Lauchland, Wal -Mart's Director of Community Involvement. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Wal -Mart's economic development program was created with the intent on enhancing community growth and development through job creation and industrial recruiting. Each year Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. allocates over $2 million in industrial funding to attract new industry to their trade territory. The amount awarded ranges from $4,000 to $8,000 and is payable over a two-year period. During Wal -Mart's grand re -opening held on September 14, 1999, it was announced that the City of Lodi had qualified for one of the grants. Nancy Lauchland, Director of Community Involvement, will be in attendance to present a check in the amount of $4,000 to City of Lodi Economic Development Coordinator, Tony Goehring, on behalf of Wal- Mart Stores, Inc.
