AGENDA TITLE: Presentation by the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission
Regarding Honoring Teens program.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, in
conjunction with the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club, Linnco Services and Central Valley
Waste Services is sponsoring a program entitled Honoring Teens. The Lodi Youth
Commission Leadership Committee selects one teen to be awarded Teen of the Month
from the applications submitted to the commission from the general public, various
schools, and church groups. This month's Teen of the Month is Mercedes Consaly
from Tokay High School and the Honorary Teen of the Month is David Guzman from
Lodi High School.

Bio for City Council
December Teen of the Month
Mercedes Consalv is a student at Tokay High School. She maintains a 3.5 GPA and
has a genuine interest in working with the disabled. She has worked in convalescent
hospitals, worked with Cerebral Palsy patients and worked with the Children's
Museum as a recreation assistant for low-income children. She has a desire to work
with patients who suffer from mental illness. This interest is strengthened by her
close relationship with her 28 -year-old sister who has schizophrenia and lives at
home. Mercedes was on the homecoming court this year and is thought of highly by
staff and students for her wonderful warm personality.
December Honorary Teen of the Month
David Guzman is a student at Lodi High school. Dave was selected state wide for
the California summer school for the arts. He spent a month this summer studying
art with other teens from throughout the state at a college in southern California.
