HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2017-151RESOLUTION NO. 2017-151 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING ADVERTISMENT FOR BIDS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD THE CONTRACT FOR WHITE SLOUGH WATER POLLUTION CONTROL FACILITY FIELD 5 LEVEE REPAIR TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIVE BIDDER WHEREAS, the farming operation at White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility utilizes a number of levees and ditches throughout the property; and WHEREAS, the levee that runs along the north side of fields 5A, 56, and 5C has been impacted by squirrels in recent years, and with the heavy rains this past winter, there were a number of locations along this levee where the high water on the north side (from the unnamed ditch) began running through the squirrel holes in the levee and flooded the northern portion of fields 5A, 5B, and 5C; and WHEREAS, the work is being performed under the San Joaquin County Multi -Species Habitat Conservation and Open Space Plan, and due to the work activity potentially disturbing sensitive habitat, the project must be completed by October 1, 2017; and WHEREAS, bids are currently scheduled to be received by the City on August 30, 2017; and WHEREAS, by authorizing the City Manager to award the construction contract, the Notice to Proceed could be issued within two weeks of the bid opening, allowing the project to easily start no later than September 15, 2017; and WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council approve specifications, authorize advertisement for bids, and authorize the City Manager to award the contract for White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Field 5 Levee Repair to the lowest responsive bidder, in an amount not to exceed $75,000. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve specifications, authorize advertisement for bids, and further authorizes the City Manager to award the contract for White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Field 5 Levee Repair to the lowest responsive bidder, in an amount not to exceed $75,000.
