COUNCIL COM'IMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Presentation by the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission
Regarding Honoring Teens program.
MEETING DATE: October 20, 1999

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, in
conjunction with the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club, and Central Valley Waste Services is
sponsoring a program entitled Honoring Teens. The Lodi Youth Commission
Leadership Committee selects one teen to be awarded Teen of the Month from the
applications submitted to the commission from the general public, various schools, and
church groups. This month's Teen of the Month is Jaymee Rhodes from Liberty High
School and the Honorary Teen of the Month is Kelly Wolfe from Lodi High School.

October Teen of the Month
Jaymee Rhodes is a student at Liberty High. Jaymee is in the top 10% of Liberty
students. She is on track to graduate a year early. She is currently applying to
colleges and preparing to the SAT exam. She will be a key person in painting a
mural for the City of Lodi in the future. Her artistic achievements include a 2""
place for oil painting in the Young Renaissance Art Show at Hutchins Street Square
next year. She has been working for 10 months as a gymnastics coach in Lodi and
was a member of Liberty's Women's Flag Football team. Jaymee has a pleasant
personality, a consistently positive attitude and displays initiative in whatever
project interests her.
October Honorary Teen of the Month
Kelly Wolfe is a senior at Lodi High. Kelly coordinates the Lodi High School
Conflict Management program with advisor Cat Ricketts. Her efforts have reduced
tension on campus and resolved numerous conflicts between individuals. Kelly also
coordinates the Lodi High School Link Crew Program providing for a smooth
transition for students coming into high school from middle school.
