i in the Delivery of Transportation Projects
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Mayor Hitchcock present a plaque to Ms. Diane Nguyen of the
San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) in recognition of
outstanding service to the City of Lodi.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Over the past several years, many of the City of Lodi's I major street improvement projects have, in large part, been constructed using
funds managed by the San Joaquin Council of Governments.
Notable among these projects are the Highway 99/Ketttemarn Lane
Interchange, Beckman Road Reconstruction, Lower Sacramento Road Widening, Turner Road
Reconstruction, alnd soon the Kettleman Lane Gap Closure and Beautification project.
Successful delivery of these projects has substantially relied upon the services of SJCOG staff and
especially Ms. Diane Nguyen. She has assisted the City in crafting creative applications for funds,
streamlined project development, interfaced with Caltrans, and supported the many changes that occur
as projects evolve.
Most recently, Ms. Nguyen orchestrated an allocation of $2.6 million in Measure K funds to facilitate
construction of the stalled Kettleman Gap Closure and Beautification Project. This resulted in project
delivery three to four years earlier than otherwise possible.
