AND WHEREAS, this Board of Trustees deem it for the best in—
terest of said City, that it acquire and own said described land, and
it appearing to the Board that the prices asked for said lard by the
owners, are reasonable, now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that said City of Lodi, purchase and acquire said
land above described, for the prices named, and the Clerk of this Board
is hereby authorized on behalf of this Board to accept and receive
good and sufficient deeds of said land, conveying the same to the City
with good merchantable title, and upon delivery of said deeds that war.—

ar-rants be drawn in the usual manner, payable to the respective owners
of said land, or their order. And it is hereby,
RESOLVED, that the sum of.4235.00 is hereby appropriated and
set aside from the g neral fund for the payment of said lands.
Trustee Folendorf moved, seconded by Trustee Black, the adoption
of the resolution as read, which motion was carried by the following ,
vote;
Ayes: Trustees Hale, Black, Keeney, Deaver and Folendorf. '
Noes: None.
Trustee Keeney introduced a resolution providing for the deed—
ing to the City of Lodi of a certain piece of land owned by E.3.Deaver
fronting five feet on DeForce Avenue, the City of Lodi to transfer to
said E.F,.Deaver, in exchange therefor, a piece of land of -equal dimen—
sions north of and adjacent thereto. The resolution was upon motion
laid on the table for not less than five days.
Miscellaneous claims against the City amounting to $'+773.99
were allowed and ordered paid.

In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi there were present Trustees Hale, Black, Keeney and Folendorf,
Trustee Deaver absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Building permits were ;ranted to the following:
C. T. Jansen, private garage at 411 Eden Street.
L. A. Woodson, residence lot 6, block 4, Barnhart Tract.
J. Hammer, addition to dwelling at 520 Tokay Street.
City. Plumbing Inspectors report for the month of August was
read and ordered.filed.
The report of City Clerk for the quarter ending September 30th
was read and referred to the Finance Committee..
City Engineer Barzellotti submitted an estimate on the cost of
pipe and materials necessary to construct storm sewers in North School
street, the total amount of his estimate being $1400.24.
Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Folendorf, that the
Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for bids for vitrified pipe
and connections necessary for the construction of storm sewers in
North School street; also for cement pipe laid for the same work, to
be done in accordance with plans to be submitted by the City Engineer.
The Notion was adopted unanimously.
A resolution providing for the exchange of certain pieces of
land ozrred by the City and E. F. Deaver, having been introduced October
lst and laid on the table, wa.s taken up for final disposal:
RES OLIITICIN.
WHEREAS, E. E. DEAVER, of Lodi, San Joaquin County, State. of
California, owns that certai;, piece, or parcel of land situated in the
said City of Lodi and particularly described as follows, to -crit:
Starting at a point on the East line of North Schools Street,
55 feet Yort! sf the Northeast corner of the intersection of the De-
Forc Avenue with North School Street;. running' thence Northerly and
along said East line 55 feet to the North line of Block "Au Gordon
Tract t_.erce Easterly and along said North line 5 feet to a point;
thence Southerly and parallel to the curb line established for the
first 110 feet of North School Street North of DeForce Avenue by
Ordinance No. 92, 55 feet to the point of beginning.
AND -W.n3RFA S said piece of land is necessary for the purpose
of widening said North School Street.
AND 7II1EREAS said E. E. DEA.VER - is milling to convey said land
to ti:e said City of Lodi for the purpose of widening said North School.
Street, provided the said City of Lodi will convey to him that certain
piece of land situated in the City of Lodi described as follows to :pit:
Starting at the moor theast corner of the intersection of De -
Force Avenue with North School Street and running thence ::ortherly
and along the East line of North School street 55 feet to a point on
said lire; thence Southerly and parallel to the curb line established
for the first 110 feet of North School Street, North of DeForce Avenue
by Ordinance No. 42,55 feet to the North line of DeForce Ave=P.' pro-
duced; thence Easterly and along said produced line 5 feet to the
point of beginning.
AND A===REAS this Board deems it to be for the best interest of
said City of Lodi, that said exchange be made.
1401.1. THERETO?W BE IT RESOLVED that upon the delivery to the City
of Lodi by said E. E. Deaver of a good and sufficient deed, conveying
said lard first above described, to said City of Lodi, for the pur-
pose of widening North School street, that the -City of Lodi deliver
to said E E. Deaver a deed of said land last above described, and
the President of this Board of Trustees, of the said City of Lodi., is
hereby authorized and directed on behalf of the said City of Lodi, in
Its name, and under its seal, to make, execute, acknowledge and deliver
to Said E, E. DEAVER a deed, of said last above described. property.
Trustee Folendorf moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, the adop-
tion_ ef.the above resolution which motion was carried by the follow -

Ayes: Trustees Hale, Black, Keeney and Folendorf.
Noes: Nope.
Absent: Trustee Dsaver.
Messrs. W. H. Faust and E. H. Stark of the Fire Department
asked authority of the Board to store the hose cart and 500 feet of
fire hose on the Friedberger lot in block 15. The matter was left
to the utilities Committee,.
J. K. Newfield reported that property owners on West Elm St.,
'rest Locust St. and East Lodi Avenue had signed agreements to pay
for electroliers for their respective streets and requested the
Board to take any action necessary for the consummation of the plan.
The City Engineer was authorized to cooperate with property owners
in the .atter of preparing plans and contract for manufacturing the
standards.
In the matter of the improvement of North School Street the
City Engineerrras, upon motion of Trustee Black, seconded by Trustee
Keeney, directed to prepare plans, profiles and specifications for
the paving of North School Street from Elm Street to the Northern
City liu_ts.
RES01UTION,
Declaring intention of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi to purchase for the City, second issue "Liberty Bonds" to the
value of t5000.00, and authorizing the City Treasurer to make the
purchase.
. -1T.?.IAS, The united States of America is engaged ir. war with
Germany and in the prosecution of said war is and will be in urgent
need of r..oney to meet the necessary expenses thereof, and
4-?m-R.FAS, the United States Government has issued a second
series of bonds and has called upon all citizens, corporations and
firms to lend financial aid by making liberal subscriptions and
Durcaase of said bonds, and
'F,:-7P,,FAS, The City of Lodi has in its treasury money that
will not be Yeeded during the current ,year, in an amount exceeding
$5000.00, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That in the opinion of the Board of Trustees
of the City of Lodi, that it is their patriotic duty to invest a part
of the City's surplus funds in Goverw::ert Bonds -and that they will so
Invest Hands to the amount o: $5000.00, and belt further
RESOLVED, That the City Treasurer be instructed and he is
hereby directed to subscribe for and purchase for and Ir the name of
the City of Lodi, U.S.Government bonds of the second issue known as
"LIBERTY BONDS" to the value of $5000.00, said bonds to be the kind
_cno,Am as coupon bonds.
Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Black, the adoption
of the resolution as read which motion, was carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees hale, Black, Folerdorf and Keeney.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Deaver.
Upon notion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trustee Black,
the City Treasurer was instructed to take the necessary steps to con—
vert the City's $5000 first issue 3z Liberty Bonds Into the '+1" bonds
wren the proper time comes.
Labor claims amounting to $ 574.75 were allowed and ordered
paid.

In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi there were present Trustees Hale, Black, Keeney and Foler_dorf.
Trustee Deaver absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
w. D.. Voorhies & Son were granted permit to construct a dwel—
ling for J. C. Bewley on lot 9, block 2, Larson's Addition.
The report of City ;Marshal for the month of October was read
and referred to the Finance Cormittee.
The report of City Plumbing Inspector for the month of October
was read and ordered filed.
A petition signed by B. Henric{son and twenty—six others pro—
testinb against the building of a Holy Roller Church in the Barnhart
Tract was read and ordered filed.
Upon motion of Trustee Black, seconded by Trustee Foler_dorf,
the resignation of l:anager Ferguson of the Municipal Baths was accepted.
Trustee Black moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, that =. s. Dora
Stanfield be appointed Langer of the Municipal Baths, which motion was

City Attorray Steele suggested that an ordinance should be en—
acted regulating the blocking of crossings by railroad trains. The City
Attorney was instructed to prepare and submit such an ordinance.
3. Faust reported for the Board of Health that an inspect—
ion of back yards and alleys disclosed that garbage is allowed to ac—
cumulate in various places and that the City Scavenger is not attend—
ing faithfully to 1 -is duties; also that many garbage receptacles do
not comply with the law.
