Pursuant to adjournment taken from the regular meeting of
September 18th, the Board of trustees of the City of Lodi met in
adjourned regular session at 8 o'clock P.M. All members present.
On motion of Trustee Hale, the regular order of business
vas suspended and the Board nroceeded to -publicly open and declare
the Droposals submitted for the construction of storm drains and
sanitary severs as authorized -ugust 28th.
Proposals in proper form, were received from Ed. Spiekerman,
Page, J.N.Krestich, Jules Perrin, A. R. McCarty, Fredrickson
H. Crai. 3 Co., GladdiTig,lrcBea-n & Co. and Vestern Con-
crete Pipe Company,
On account of the involved nature of The proppsals submit -
Led and doubt as to the serviceability of concrete sanitary sewer
lines, the matter cf award was laid over until 8 P.Y1. of September
26th,
At the request of C. T. Boynton, the Clerk brought up the
matter of the proper drainage of the roadway of Chestnut Street.
The, Superintendent of Streets. was instructed to fill to -grade under
direction of the City Engineer.
Dr. C. V.Thompson appeared before the Board in regard to
applying the Schick test for susceptibility to diphtheria to chil-
dren in the public schools at t."le expense of the City, statin; that
the estimated cost for serum would be about 60je per pupil, with an
additional cost of -;1.50 for ad--inistration of toxin --antitoxin on
each child giving positive reaction. About 1700 children would be
tested. Dr, i:ho=json was directed to obtain further information
and report to the Board on the 26th.
Building permits were allowed. Application of A. Lloyukis
for license to conduct a card -rooms was denied.
