The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi
convened at 8 P.,!. on the date and at the place above written; Trustees
Hale, Hickok, Idettler and Shattuck were present, Trustee Bich absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 5th, the adz' ourned regul-
ar meeting- of June 12, the regular m. etings of June 19th and the ad-
journed meeting of June 26th were read and approved after the Clerk
was instructed to correct the minutes of June 5th by the addition of
a statement in the first paragraph thereof that "2. 0. Hale was chosen
President 'oro tem."
Under the head of Public Hearings & Protests,. Lir. D. D. Rodgers
of the Associated Oil Company addressed the Board in support of the
application of '.is Company for permission to eenstraet an oil and gaso-
line service station on the railroad reservation at the Northeast cor-
nar of Pine and Sacramento Streets; action was postponed until the
consideration of building- permits were before the 3mrd.
„tty C. 2,. Gannon then addressed the Board concerning the park
spaces on Locust Street, '5est of Cordier Street, but the contract
being already let, he was informed that the matter could be adjust-
ed only on an agreement being- reached between the property owners con-
carned and the contractors.
:i. H. Grawden protested a==ainst the loud and continuous whistling
of Southern Pacific en -fines in the city,and against the blockade of
Borth Saora-mento Street near Elm on arrival of the 8 A.E. Central
California Traction Company carr, which unloads express matter at this
point. City Attorney Steele said that he already had the unnecessary
whistling in mird and would look up the powers of the City in this
matter.
As to the congestion caused by the Central California Traction
C-ompany, the Board instructed the Mars::al. to warn Company employees
that the Obstruction to traffic must cease and also that the passing
of street cars :mile loading or unloading passengers must be stopped.
This being the date set by the Clerk for the Board to receive
proposals for the improvement cf<' Sacramento Street under Resolution
of intention No. 58, the members present proceeded to open and pub-
licly declare the bids received. Only one proposal was submitted,
that of Clark & Henery Company, bidding for zrading at 2 cents, for
paving- at 16 -1 -cents, for gutter at 26 cents (all per square foot),
and for curbi.n at 50eents per lineal foot. The proposal being in
identical amounts as bid and accepted on the other streets now under
,ray, the Board awarded the contract for the work to the bidder by
the passage of 'Resolution of s;ard ado. _1 -4 by the followin-; Mote:

The award of t' -_e printing of the City for the ensuing fiscal
year was now made after canvass Of bids received from The Lodi Sentin-
el and the Lodi Mews; The Sentinel bidding 40 cents per column inch
for the first insertion and 25 cents for each subsequent insertion;
The News 25 cents for first run and 15 cents for Subsequent publica-
tions. The prip_ting was awarded to The Lodi ddews by passage of
Resolution of Award 1, J. ✓ by the follow inFr vote:

On motion of Trustee Hickok-, sec onded by Trustee i*ettl er, eleven
building, permits, including- that of t"r_e Associated Oil Company herein
previously referred to, aggregating X48,250 were granted as applied
for. President of the Board, J. 't. Shattuck spoke of the obstructions
maintained by the contractor erecting the 47omans Building at the cor-
