The application of A. F. Kavanaug;n for a saloon license at 27 North Sacramento street,accompanied by -a bond approved by the President of the Board, having been advertised according to the provisions of Or- dinance jo. 78 and no prot-?sts having bo-n filed, upon motion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trustee Deaver, the license was granted' *. The application of ;1. D. Duffy for a saloon license at 25 North Sacramento street, accompanied by a bond'apbroved by the President of the Board, having been advertised according to the provisions of Ordin- ance No. 78, and no protests having been filed, upon motion of Trustee Folendorf, seconded by Trustee Deaver, the license was granted. The application of Robert Y. Combs for a saloon license at No. 7 South Sacramento street, accompanied by a bond approved by the Presi- dent of the Board, having been advertised according to the provisions of Ordinance No. 79 and no protests having been filed, upon motion of Trus- tee Deaver, seconded by Trustee Folendorf, the licerse was granted. Trustee Deaver moved, seconded by Trustee Folendorf, that the City 11-larshal be required to serve a written notice upon all' --old-ra of liquor licenses that the provisions of Ordinance No. 78 will be strictly enforced during the coming year. The motion was carried. The following resolution was introduced and -read: WHEREAS, this Board, by resolution duly passed and adopted on the 21st day of April, A.D.1916, accepted the offer of The California Camp Mleetin,g Ground Association to sell to the City of Lodi that certain lot, piece or parcel of land, situated in the City of Lodi, County of San Joaquin, State of California, described as follows, to -wit: - Block 32, of the City of Lodi (formerly town of Mokelumne) as d-?z;ignatqd on the Map and Field Notes of the Townsite of Mok,-lunne,filed vTith the Recorder of San Joaquin County, J`ul.'r 17, 1869, by the Western Pac'ific Railroad Company, now Southern Pacific Compary; and IV-PIEREAS, under the terms of said Resolution Eight Thousand Dollars (48000.00) was appropriated and set aside from the general fund for the purchase of said Block; and WR72EAS, the President of this Board of Trustees, pursuant to said resolution, entered Into a valid agreement for the purchase of said Black for said sum of Eight Thousand Dollars ($8000.00) and ad- vanced and paid thereon, the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), the balance to be paid when a full and complete abstract Is furnished,show- in� good and merchantable title le In the owner; and o-HEREAS, such abstract has been furnished, and, In the opinion of the City Attorney of said City of Lodi, the title to said Block is good and m-rchanta-lolq; and 'WHEREAS, said The California Camp 1.1-eting Ground Association ras tendered a good and sufficient deed of said described Block to this Board of Trust -es' - NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the delivery of said deed be accepted, and a warrant be drawn in the usual manne-r for the balance, to—wit., the sum of 47900.00, of said sum so set aside from the general fund, in favor'of said The Califorria Camp Meeting Ground Association, and the same be delivered to said The California Camp Meeting Ground Association upon the delivery of said Deed to this Board of Trustees. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, AND ORDERED.- that a warrant for 4100 be drawn in favor of the President of this Board as reimbursement for the amount advanced, as above stated. Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trtkstee Deaver, the adoption of t1he above resolution as read. The motior carried by the following vote: Aires: Trusties Deaver, Folendorf, Hale. Nays: None. Ab- sent: Trustee Black. A building permit was granted to Jo%ln Wittmayer for the con otruction of a private garage on lot 7, block 1+1, at 303 E ­Elm St. The S-icretary of the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department reported to the Board that the following officers were elected to carry on the work of the Department for the coming year: Pre iident, F. H.Mc Lachlan; Secre- Treasurer, H.E.Welch; Fir-! Chief, E.H.Stark;Flrst Assistant Chief, Georg� Hunting; Second Assistant Chief, G.A.Gerlach. Upon motion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trust-:� ' e Deaver, the selection of the above-named officers was approved and confirmed. Chief Stark of the Fire Department reported to the Board that J.W.Irey and O.W.Siqgalkoff 'rad been appointed Fire Marshals for the ensui. n�. - "Iar ' y4ar and requested that they be given authority oj. regia -DR:tce officers and be iworn in as such.
